About Pola and surroundings

BRIJUNI are a group which consists of a two big and twelve smaller islands along the west coast of Istria, near Pula, cca 7 square miles. Under government protection is not just the land but also the surrounded sea. Brijuni islands are well known for conserved mediteranian vegetation of holm oak, high macchia and pines with cypress, partialy  shaped as landscaped park. There is also a safari park with  egzotic plant eaters and valuable cultural heritage from roman and byzantium period.

PULA – city and port at southwest part of Istria.  Judging by the built shores and equippment, Pula is the most significant and the bigiest port in Istra, and well situated and protected bay is one of best natural harbours in Adriatic. Because of its size, highlighted position, two possible approaches( directly from the sea and thru the Fažana canal), low shores and easy fortification, the bay of Pula always had emphasized strategic meaning. The landscape of Pula is low and open with red landcover. First holm oak forest are reduced to low macchia, and nearby Pula has been forestated with pines.

POREČ – City, port and touristic centre at west coast of Istra. Peninsula has defined city borders in which are well preserved roman buiding elements like cardo-decumanus. The landscape is low and gentle limestone planes between Mirna valey  in north and Limska Draga in south. Poreč is tourist centre well known for his beautiful natural ambiance and long tourist tradition.

ROVINJ  is one of the most developed tourist places in Croatia, with abundant offer blend together in pitoresque ambiance of old town and in enriched pine woods (Golden rt has been categorized as park-forrest, while the rovinj islands and coast are pronounced as protected landscape) of the city and nearby.

MOTOVUN is ideal picnic area with solid offer, attractive to tourist which spend their vacation at east and west coast of Istra. The surroundings are offering possibility of walks thru the Motovun forrest,where you can find mushroom called tartufi – well known dellicatesse or thru wineyards at southwest hills or hunting and bike riding. In that wineyard area you can find  teran, pinot and malvazija from Motovun.

OPATIJA, often called Nice of Adriatic, is the one of the most famous tourist places in Croatia and the resort with the longest tradition of tourism on the east Adriatic coast . Suitable climate, nourished ambient, well-preservd and taken care of, beaches and all year round liveness make this resort even today one of the most prestigious summer spots in Croatia.

PLITVICE LAKES are the most famous croatian national park, enlisted by UNESCO. Main attraction of this park, unique in the world consist of 16 small lakes interconnected with slopes made by setlleing of travertine, special kind of limestone. Park consist of starting point of river Korana in the surrounds of thick forrests of beech, fir tree and juniper, partly in the shape of original rain forrest.
